Program Requirements
Each semester, students will be required to:

  • Show evidence of fingerprint clearance
  • Attend a service learning orientation
  • Subscribe to Taskstream
  • Demonstrate application of Teacher Dispositions
  • Demonstrate core learning in signature assignments or portfolio artifacts


Signature Assignments
A signature assignment is a term ussed at CGCC and our university partners. Such an assignment is one that demonstrates your
learning of multiple course competencies and is weighted heavily in your semester grade. Some signature assignments are required by MCCD, others may be established by CGCC faculty.


Those required by MCCD are:
  • Philosophy of Education Essay (EDU221)
  • Field Experience and Reflective Essay (EDU222)

Service Learning Orientation

All students enrolled in any program course are required every semester to attend an orientation for placement in field experience. Placement and assignment information will be provided.
 
Fingerprint Clearance

All students in the CGCC Teacher Education Program are required to gain federal fingerprint clearance prior to placement in local schools for field experience. Information about this will be provided by your instructors. Dates for fingerprinting on campus will be provided each semester.
 
Electronic Portfolio
Beginning Fall 2007 students will be required to subscribe to a TaskStream electronic portfolio. Subscriptions can be obtained at this website -- please note that subscriptions are more economical the longer you wish to subscribe. Students who are on a definite pathway to teaching should consider extended subscriptions to accommodate both CGCC and Arizona university program requirements.
