  1. Connect to CGCC! Attend new student orientation and make sure you connect with college administrators, faculty, staff, and student ambassadors.
  2. GO TO CLASS. Class attendance is a must!
  3. STUDY. Plan to spend a minimum of two hours on homework for each hour you spend in class. Make sure you understand and follow the course syllabus. Take advantage of the free tutoring in the Learning Center.
  4. Get to know your faculty. Visit them during office hours; talk with them outside of class.
  5. Learn how to set academic, personal and career goals. If you need help with this, make an appointment with a career counselor or meet with an academic advisor.
  6. GET INVOLVED on campus. Contact Student Life to learn about all of the fun opportunities with clubs and organizations.
  7. Get to know someone with a different background than your own (i.e. Major).
  8. If you need help funding your college education, see the staff in the financial aid office for information on scholarships, grants, loans, federal work study, and much more.
