STEERING COMMITTEE

Meeting dates (2:00-4:00 pm):

The purpose of the Steering Committee is to provide leadership to the college and the Self-Study criterion committees, keeping the process on track for a successful completion of the Self-Study, college improvement, and eventual renewal of our accreditation.


Self-Study Roles and Responsibilities

All Employees
  • Actively participate in the self-study process

President
  • Appoint a self-study chair
  • In collaboration with the self-study chair, select the co-chair and Steering Committee
  • Provide assistance in designing the self-study, establishing the budget, and preparing for the site visit
  • Provide support for the self-study and serve on the Steering Committee
    Advise the self-study coordinator of communications from HLC/NCA
  • Provide conceptual assistance in writing the report in collaboration with the writing/editing team

Deans/Vice-Presidents

  • Provide support for the self-study coordinator and serve on the Steering Committee
  • Serve as administrative liaison on the appropriate Criterion Committee
  • Provide information and leadership to your areas in preparing for and conducting the self-study

Self-Study Chair

  • Provide overall direction and execution of the self-study process
  • Coordinate the preparation of the self-study report, assist in writing the report
  • Chair the Steering Committee
  • Serve as a resource to all Criterion Committees (attend meetings as needed)
  • Report to the President regarding the progress of the self-study
  • Coordinate self-study events, including the Team site-visit in collaboration with the President and the Steering Committee
  • Coordinate the site visit (logistics delegated to a small committee)
  • Coordinate the review of the draft and final team reports in collaboration with the President and Administrative team

Self-Study Co-Chair

  • Assist the Chair - particularly with virtual resources

Criterion Chairs, Co-Chairs, and all Steering Team Members

  • Serve on the Steering Committee
  • Assist the coordinator to develop the self-study plan
  • Assist in the implementation of the self-study, specifically by chairing your Criterion committee, or in your particular area of expertise such as research or communications
  • Provide leadership in preparing the self-study report, specifically by creating drafts of your Criterion Chapter

Criterion Committee Members

  • Assist the Chair in collecting, evaluating, and analyzing data related to the Criterion
  • Attend Committee meetings regularly
  • Contribute to the writing of the chapter

Editing Team

  • Members of the steering committee will assist the President and Chair in editing the report
  • Several proof readers and outside readers will be used

Assistant to the Chair

  • Take meeting minutes of the steering committee and all criterion meetings, reserve rooms, handle clerical matters such as timecards, collect resource room materials as needed, assist in planning fun events
