One Book CGCC - 2007 The Spring 2007 One Book CGCC was Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser; the book was chosen by a cross-discipline committee. Faculty across disciplines were encouraged to connect their curriculum to the book or the themes inherent in the book. Moreover, events were scheduled to support faculty in their exploration of some of the key themes in Fast Food Nation. Some of the key themes were: issues related to entry-level workers' (teenagers and immigrants), targeting kids through direct marketing, the meat-packing industry and the American capitalist system, consumers' options and choices, the homogenization of American culture, corporate responsibility, and the obesity epidemic. A compilation of discussion questions was developed to help explore these themes and the other topics presented in the book. The CGCC bookstore sold 348 copies of the book.
