One Book CGCC

Garbage Land: On the Secret Trail of Trash by Elizabeth Royte, the Spring 2008 One Book CGCC.

Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser was the Spring 2007 One Book CGCC.

One Book CGCC is a book that:

  1. Deals with current and relevant issues or topics and holds general interest for the students.
  2. Might be read and understood in smaller, discrete sections (i.e., some disciplines or classes might read one section only) so that the book can be adapted to, or included in, a wide variety of courses without demanding too much course time.
  3. Can be approached from a variety of points of view by different disciplines thus giving students an opportunity to examine and discuss many aspects of particular issues.
  4. Readily elicits discussion on an analytical level.
  5. Directly support the campus SEE Your World theme which focuses on social, environmental and economic concerns in our local and global communities.
