Recently, Chandler-Gilbert Community College became an EarthWise energy partner with SRP. In addition to being a customer of SRP, the college now supports the SRP-EarthWise program, which directly contributes to a number of environmental initiatives in the form of renewable energy.
During a recent Arizona Diamondback's game, Chandler-Gilbert Community College was formally recognized as an Earth Wise partner. Chandler-Gilbert Community College will also have a continuing alignment with SRP through its web site, and various publications.
Alternative energy sources contribute to the SRP power grid in essentially the same way as conventional power generation. One of the more understated forms of alternative power, compared to solar and wind power, is landfill generation. Currently, the Tri-Cities Landfill Generation Plant in the east valley produces 4 mega-watts of methane gas fueled power.
Partnering in the EarthWise program is another example of the continuing commitment that Chandler-Gilbert Community College has for a sustainable future.
