Below are some of the Faculty Development events that took place in Spring 2007

Designing Integrated Learning Activities (1/18)
[0 people attended this event]

Thursday, January 18
Designing Integrated Learning Activities
Engaging Students
5:30-7:00 pm
L237 in the TLC

Integrated learning activities connect content from more than one academic discipline through an event or other material that is shared between classes. This deepens student engagement and thus learning while modeling how knowledge is acquired and applied and the "real world." This workshop is designed for pairs (or larger groups) of instructors who want to develop an activity for use during the Spring 2007 semester. Ideally, the instructors will be teaching at the same time so that they can easily gather their two (or more) classes together.

Adjunct-faculty currently teaching at CGCC who participate in this workshop will be paid at the non instructional or professional development rate of $24.95/hr.

Exploring Tablet PCs for the Classroom (C106)
Monday, January 8
Exploring Tablet PCs for the Classroom
Teaching and Learning with Technology
1:00-2:00 pm
C106

Please join Bassam Matar (Engineering Science), Scott Adamsson (Math) and Wendy Matar (English) with an hour full of activities that explore the Tablet PC.

What are Tablet PCs? They are are fully-functional laptop PCs and more. You can use a special pen to draw/diagram, take notes or grade right on the screen. You can also use the pen in place of a mouse to do things like select, drag, and open files. While the Tablet PC looks just like a conventional laptop PC, the screen rotates 180 degrees so you can lay it flat over the keyboard for a more comfortable reading and writing experience.

During the workshop, each faculty will address 1) how to use the Tablet PC, 2) the benefit of the Tablet PC in your discipline, and 3) explore the different free education software that you can download off the net.

Adjunct-faculty currently teaching at CGCC who participate in this workshop will be paid at the non instructional or professional development rate of $24.95/hr.
