  Student Support & Transition Services

Dear CGCC Student,

WELCOME to Chandler-Gilbert Community College and the 2008-2009 academic year! Student Support & Transition Services (SS&TS) is looking forward to connecting and servicing our newly enrolled and our continuing DRS Students. We plan to provide assistance and support in order to ensure your success. Disability Resources and Services (DRS) is housed under this department. We have adopted the slogan H.E.L.P. Healthy Empowerment of Life Planning. Our goal is to connect with students, and assist them with their transition to college by empowering them to become self-directed, independent, and able to make informed choices concerning their personal and academic goals. During this academic year, we ask for your patience and understanding while the college continues to master our new student system, especially during peak enrollment times.

General Information:
• SS&TS hours of operation: Mon.-Thurs. 8:00am - 8:00pm , Fridays 8:00am - 5:00pm.
• DRS appointments must be scheduled in advance. WALK-IN's cannot be accommodated due to the high volume of student appointments.
• If immediate intervention or assistance is needed, ask to speak or make an appointment with the Director of SS&TS, Dawn Vucetich.

As a DRS student, we ask the following:
• All students need to set up an online student account at http://my.maricopa.edu
• All students need to make sure DRS forms are updated each semester in order to secure the following services: advisement, registration, accommodations, advocacy and support.
• All students must actively participate in your academic planning, actively seek out services and resources that will assist in your success, and actively communicate with the DRS office.

DRS Instructor Notification Procedure:
• Academic accommodations can only be given to students with "active status": current documentation, current forms, currently enrolled in classes.
o Continuing students: INF's can be picked up at your convenience during the first week of classes. All DRS forms will need to be updated and current prior to receiving INF's.
o New students: Need to schedule an INF appointment to review accommodations and policies.
If there are any concerns regarding your accommodations, an INF appointment is needed.

DRS Events:
In order to attend these events, students must call the DRS office and RSVP.
• Newly enrolled students are encouraged to attend CGCC Student Orientation; remaining date is Saturday, August 23rd 9:30am-12:30pm. Check-in begins 30 minutes before each session at the Performing Arts Center (PAC)
