CGCC and Arizona State University (ASU) at the Polytechnic Campus have transformed the fact of co-location at the Williams Campus into the reality of co-operation through an innovative student-centered Partnership in Baccalaureate Education. The Partnership takes community college/university articulation to the next level, integrating the strengths of the two institutions and creating a wholly new option in baccalaureate education for students from Arizona and around the world. Williams Campus students may be jointly admitted to ASU Polytechnic and CGCC. ASU Polytechnic is offering baccalaureate degree programs in technology, agribusiness, elementary education, business administration, technical communication, nutrition, exercise science, and applied psychology. CGCC is providing some of the lower division general studies, general interest, and prerequisite courses that complete and enrich the baccalaureate programs. ASU Polytechnic and CGCC faculty work together to plan and coordinate curriculum and scheduling. The cooperation in curriculum extends to virtually every other functional area of the two institutions: library, computer center, classrooms, general facilities, housing, bookstore, food service, recreation, student life, financial aid, advising, registration, class schedule, campus security, and campus maintenance. Through the Partnership, students can complete entire baccalaureate programs at the Williams Campus, either as commuter or residential students, as if it were a single institution. The Partnership in Baccalaureate Education at the Williams Campus provides an innovative and powerful model for the development of new campuses nationwide to meet the growing need for comprehensive post secondary programs and a broader range of points of entry than universities or community colleges have been able to provide separately. For Baccalaureate Education, call the Vice President of Instruction at 480.732.7012. In addition to ASU at the Polytechnic Campus, many CGCC students transfer to the ASU at the Tempe Campus, ASU at the Wes Campust, and ASU at the Downtown Campus. The Alliance program with MCCCD provides benefits to students whose intention is to start at Chandler-Gilbert Community College (or one of the other Maricopa Community Colleges) and then transfer to ASU.

Williams Gateway Airport is on its way to becoming a major employment hub for high paying jobs in the East Valley. The airport's current annual economic impact on the community is more than $251 million and continues to grow exponentially as development progresses. Chandler-Gilbert works very closely with WGA staff to attract new businesses to the area. The Aviation Maintenance and Flight programs currently use an existing WGA hangar for aircraft operations. We anticipate starting construction of a new hangar facility located on the airport in the near future.

Background: New Adventures in Learning is an Institute for Learning in Retirement organization for mature adults, who share a curiosity and desire for learning. New Adventures is a membership learning organization affiliated with Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) through the Sun Lakes Education Center (SLEC). The mission of New Adventures in association with the CGCC/SLEC is to meet the educational needs and interests of the growing number of mature adults in the Southeast Valley. New Adventures seeks to meet its goals by recognizing and utilizing the unique experiences, capabilities, and diversity of mature adults, and thereby building a self-governing and self-sustaining community of learners, that becomes an integral part of the Maricopa Community Colleges system. New Adventures provides an opportunity for intellectual and cultural growth for persons 45+, offering opportunities to explore the limitless array of topics geared to their interests and talents. Learning occurs in a pleasant social atmosphere in study groups conducted by one's peers. Presenters, operating under the auspices of a New Adventures' facilitator, share their interest and expertise with the study group members. All participants working together create a unique educational opportunity that emphasizes learning, personal satisfaction, and an increased understanding of the subject matter. Introduction: Since 1999, the level of interest among the initial members and their continuing level of involvement, plus the support of the additional new members of this exciting venture has been most encouraging. There is an unlimited capacity for members. We can increase the level of participation by telling our neighbors and friends in the Southeast Valley about our programs and what they offer. The thrill of learning about a variety of subjects, in a non threatening classroom atmosphere, is almost beyond belief. Remember those years long ago, when it was study all night, and hope the answers would come the next day when the blue books were handed out? Now you can experience a class just as involved, and not have to do homework unless you want to and feel it will help further your understanding of the subject. What a relief! The spectrum of study is varied from Civic and Social Studies, Health and Happiness, Trips/Day Travel and Hobbies. With the addition of more members with wider interests, the spectrum can be almost unlimited. Since this is a volunteer organization and is self-directed by its members, the number of subjects and courses are up to the creative abilities of the members themselves. "Seek and ye shall find".... a class that meets your interests. In addition to the increase in knowledge gained in these classes, there is a joining of like-minded participants in the community that may become your new friends. This will not only broaden your knowledge about our world and community, but will increase your wealth of neighbors, in a world that seems at times, to leave us all alone. Let's make this year a time when all current members encourage our friends and neighbors to "Come and experience learning as you have never experienced it before." - New Adventures in Learning is serving all Southeast Valley Communities.
- New Adventures in Learning has set its future goals with the expectation that everyone will have, at all times, new and affordable educational opportunities.
- New Adventures in Learning is exploring, developing, and expanding new territories for learning.
- New Adventures in Learning is a self-directed, peer led organization. We are all volunteers.
- New Adventures in Learning is a non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization.
COME JOIN US AND SEE HOW MUCH FUN YOU CAN HAVE LEARNING IN RETIREMENT. NO HOMEWORK! NO GRADES! NO STRESS! JUST PURE FUN IN LEARNING.

With support from The Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, Civic Ventures and Libraries for the Future, Chandler's Boomerang project is one of four Next Chapter projects offered in metropolitan Phoenix designed to respond to the unique aging trends of boomers and assist them with the transition to another life stage - that of meaningful retirement. The programs, services, and spaces provided for in these Next Chapter projects will help this generation born between 1946 and 1964 answer the question "What's Next?" In September 2002, the Maricopa County Commission on Productive Aging came together to study how aging and retirement are changing and how new ideas about service, community spaces, and choices might be put into practice. The Commission initiated a process of change and set the stage for the Next Chapter Initiative in Maricopa County . A request for proposals was issued in 2003 for organizations to plan for projects in their own communities that were reflective of the ideas and findings of the Commission. The Chandler Public Library received one of seven planning grants from The Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust to evaluate to the needs of Boomers in the Chandler community. A series of eight focus groups were held in locations throughout the community, and the attendance profile was reflective of the overall community. Working with a variety of community partners, Chandler 's Boomerang project is a direct reflection of what Chandler boomers said they wanted to assist them in pursuing the next stage and the blue print established by the Commission on Aging. In September of 2004, the Chandler Public Library was selected to receive one of four grants from The Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust to implement the Boomerang project as part of the Next Chapter initiative. The other Maricopa County Next Chapter Projects include: - Mesa Life Options
- Scottsdale Life Ventures
- Tempe Connections
Chandler-Gilbert Community College/Sun Lakes Center is proud to be a leading partner with Chandler Public Library in the development of the Chandler "Boomerang" Project, a Maricopa County "Next Chapter" Initiative. The Sun Lakes Center and CGCC's Pecos Campus will serve as two of the six "points of entry" for this Project.
You are encouraged to connect to myboomerang.org to learn more about the Project and the many varied resources, programs and services which are available to you.

Service-Learning combines community service with academic instruction focusing on critical-thinking and problem-solving, values clarification, social and personal development, and civic responsibility. CGCC students have been performing meaningful service at community agencies to learn experientially during one-day events, class projects, and individual placements for over 15 years. The Service-Learning Office in Student Life coordinates service-learning at CGCC with help from Faculty Liaison and with oversight from the service-learning leadership team.
Service-Learning Agencies All agencies that accept Service-Learning students must have signed an agreement with the Maricopa Community College District. This agreement allows our students to serve safely at their assigned sites. Go to the Experiential Education Partnership Agreement Search page to browse or search the district legal database to see with which agencies MCCD community colleges have an agreement.
