As the need for highly qualified service professionals continues to grow, retailers in the food and clothing industries are encouraging students to gain knowledge of business essentials needed for the management challenges of the future. Grounded in the basics of accounting, marketing, and management, the Retail Management program is the first step to a rewarding career for many.

The Retail Management Certificate is designed to qualify graduates to compete for entry-level management positions in the retail industry. Positions exist with job titles such as Assistant Store Manager and Manager Trainee in a variety of retail operations, from supermarkets to specialty chains, franchises and major department stores. The retail industry has many opportunities for qualified managers who possess knowledge in retailing, merchandising, advertising, sales, marketing and management.

Successful graduates of the program will be able to:

• Demonstrate knowledge of the terminology and procedures of the retailing field
• Exhibit knowledge of the techniques to develop and effective advertising campaign.
• Effectively merchandise a product.
• Read and interpret financial reports.
• Determine customer needs and successfully satisfy and exceed customer expectations.

Students who complete the 33 credit certificate will not only receive the CGCC Certificate of completion, they'll also be awarded the Western Association of Food Chains Certificate of Proficiency.

This Certificate can also be transferred into an AAS in Organizational Leadership and an AAS in Retail Management (currently under development). And these AAS degrees can be transferred directly into ASU's BAS degree program (at the Polytechnic campus)
