How does the AMS program curriculum help me in building my career?

The AAS in Automated Manufacturing Systems (AMS) prepares students for employment as production supervisors, technicians, and managers in the manufacturing industry. The AMS program is designed to meet the needs of today's high-tech industry by providing trained individuals who can immediately become an asset to a company's operations. Demand is on the rise as companies move towards complete automation.

This program provides skills in operations, instrumentation, equipment maintenance, manufacturing processes, and future needs of the manufacturing industry. Students are exposed to a broad spectrum of automated manufacturing information and skills which opens up job opportunities in various industries. Students from our program learn the programming, installation, and troubleshooting of automated equipment using state-of-the-art tools and software. Students will be proficient in the area of robotic systems, Vacuums, Programmable logic controllers, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Digital systems, Electronics, Sensors, CIM, Traditional, and semiconductor processes. This latest technology knowledge coupled with hands-on experience is very important for a successful career in today's highly automated industry.

How do I enter the AMS program?

All students interested in Automated Manufacturing Systems (AMS) can apply for the program and enroll upon successful completion of the math eligibility requirements (MAT092/ASSET Placement Test). Students will be required to submit a Student Information Form to the CGCC Admissions & Records Office and to make an appointment to take the ASSET Placement Test. Additionally, we recommend submission of the Supplemental Program Information Form to receive additional information about the program periodically from the program coordinator.

ASSET Testing is free and conducted on an appointment basis. You will be required to provide personal identification prior to testing. Testing time is approximately 2-2.5 hours. Call (480) 988-8000 at the Williams Campus or (480) 732-7159 at the Pecos Campus to schedule an appointment. After testing, you will be required to meet with the AMS Academic Advisor at Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) at the Williams Campus to discuss the results of the ASSET test with regard to the AMS program-of-study. Prerequisite courses for the AMS program will be determined based on your English, Reading, and Math ASSET test scores. For information on Program Enrollment or Program contact please click here.
